Cross Country is the ultimate team sport… it takes all 7 (or 10) to score..I started these camps for my teams so we could all sit and talk about the season ahead and my expectations of them.. and theirs for me… The opportunity to sit with an athlete and discuss goals and expectations can be very powerful in setting up for the season ahead….to be able to do it in a beautiful setting and with team mates is a huge bonus going into the upcoming season

Greg's Story

Greg retired from teaching and coaching xc/track for 34 years in the DFW Metroplex  in 2019, after guiding the Highland Park boys teams to multiple State appearances from 1996-2006 for the Scots boys XC… and podium finishes in track and field.

In 2006 he began the xc/track programs at Lovejoy for the Leopards’ boys/girls teams resulting in multiple State Championships for both squads in XC along with individuals in Track and Field.

During his tenure his teams won 5 State Cross Country Titles as Lovejoy grew from 3A classification to 5A.

He began his summer camps for the boys teams at Highland Park taking them to his family’s lake house in Kansas (1996), and then eventually moving the camps in 2004 to Aspen, Colorado. Northern NM has been home to the summer camps since 2008 in Taos Ski Valley before finding its new home in Angel Fire in 2020.

Along with the summer camps, he has also conducted Steeplechase clinics at Lovejoy High School. Over the years, multiple All-Americans and former Olympians have spoke at the camps and clinics.

He was the 2017 USTFCCA State of Texas Boys Coach of the Year.

He was inducted into the Cross Country Coaches Assn of Texas Hall of Fame in 2022.

He currently serves (along with Randy Adair) as meet announcer for Arkansas Razorbacks, Oklahoma state Cowboys, and the Texas Longhorns.
